Stable Pit, Bradgate Park

Stable Pit exposes part of the Brand Hills Formation, a division of the Brand Group and supposedly the oldest Cambrian rocks in the Charnwood Forest area. Mcllroy et al. (1998) suggest a correlation with the lower part of the Hartshill Formation at Nuneaton (see site report for Boon's Quarry, above).
