Active landslip activity in glacial till can be seen at this locality on the Linhouse Water south- east of Livingston. The site is within the Almondell and Calder Country Park, is a biological SSSI, an AGLV, a Listed Wildlife Site, and has AWI and SNWI woodlands. Around 430 m upstream from this locality there is a section in the river bank [NT 0734 6613] comprising a soil profile on terraced river gravels overlying glacial till. The locality is also an area of active river erosion and depositional processes (Figure 161). For details of the Calderwood biological SSSI, see section 3.4.9.2.
