Site no.: B4

Site name: Boat of Garten and Tore Hill

Grid reference: [NH 92536 18550]

Locality: Strathspey, between Laggantygowan and Tore Hill.

GCR Status: N/A

GCR No.: N/A

Type: Natural exposures

Description: Scattered outcrops of grey granodiorite and granite belonging to the Boat of Garten and Tore Hill intrusions.

Justification: These two small masses are poorly exposed and have not been studied in detail, however their lithology (largely biotite-hornblende granodiorite) and certain geochemical characteristics suggest they belong to the Argyll–Northern Highlands Subsuite; if so, they are the only representatives of that suite in the park.
