Type: Artificial Quarry Works

Description: Disused quarry cut into pale granitic rocks at the margin of the Lochnagar Granite Pluton. The quarry opened in the late 19th century to provide stone for Crathie Church (built 1893).

Justification: Stone from the quarry makes an important contribution to the local built heritage, notably as a major source of building stone for the 'B listed Crathie Kirk and possibly other late 19th century buildings in the district.
