WLC site description

Part of the Quaternary deposits, landscapes and soils sites

This site 3 km south-east of Bathgate and adjacent to Seafield Law is a good example of a lowland raised bog. There is some evidence of damage from past domestic peat cutting. Easter Inch Moss is 500 m west of Seafield Law (WLGS 6) [NT 005 667]. The main geodiversity interest is the peat soil; there is also potential for pollen records to help elucidate the depostional and climatic history of the area after the last glaciation.
